Great information! I’m amazed (and disgusted) by how much information is known about the effects of this toxic burden from chemicals in our daily life, yet the powers at be do little to find alternatives to these chemicals. We are paying these companies to make us sick!

I would appreciate more information about how to make our own organic, non-toxic products.

Marti – there certainly are a lot of things pregnant mothers unknowingly pass along to their unborn babies. If I knew the things I do now when I was pregnant 10 years ago, I would have done everything much differently! I would have had a much different diet and I would have not used all the toxic chemicals, personal care products, and household products I did. It is fantastic to save money by not buying store brands – I make a lot of my own cleaners. I hope you found some useful information in this article, and thanks for visiting!

Thanks for this awesome article! You bring up a lot of excellent points. My passion is spreading the word to families about the dangers of toxic chemiclas. My special concern is with hormone disruptors. I am also concerned about the chemicals that are passed by pregnant women to their fetuses through the unbilical cord. So many things to think about! I am fortunate to have found a line of non-toxic cleaners that are absolutely wonderful; and I am saving a lot of money by not using the toxic store brands.

Please keep information like this coming!

Julie – I agree, profit seems to take precedent over health and well-being, but I commend those companies who have taken financial hits, small though they might be, to sell safer more natural products to their customers. Thanks for your efforts with this article. I research & write about subjects to do with synthetic chemicals and the potential dangers to children.

What constantly amazes me is that these large & trusted baby care product manufacturers can simply choose to forego a tiny bit of their annual profit and choose to replace the hazardous substances with organic substances that have zero dangers!!

The many popular brand companies have already made soooooo much money already – surely it is not all that difficult to make a little less $$$$$ and keep babies a little safer in this synthetic chemical controled world!!

Greed is something that never ceases to amaze me. Thank you for reminding me why I love my work!!!

Recently CHEESESLAVE put up a post on how to make your own laundry detergent. I’m wondering if any one has ideas to replace other products like dishsaop, floor cleaners, window cleaner, bathroom (tub, sink, toilet) cleaners and general countertop cleaners.
