Why Our Family Won’t Be Getting A Flu Shot This Year (Or Any Year)

www.mypicshares.com

It’s that time of year again. I’ve been seeing the signs all over proclaiming: “flu shots here” from Walgreens to doctor’s clinics all over the city where I live. And I hear conversations from people everywhere saying that they need to get into their doctor and get their flu shot before it’s too late.

So why is there so much hype about the flu vaccine? Does the flu shot really keep us from getting the flu?

The truth is, no real evidence exists about flu shot vaccines being beneficial for anyone. Before the use of the flu vaccine, two of the major reasons why deaths from flu and pneumonia declined by 90 percent around the turn of the century (1900) was due to dramatic improvements in sanitation practices (plumbing and electricity) as well as nutrition.

One thing’s for certain: no one in my family will be getting the flu shot this year or anytime in the future. I don’t think many people would argue that getting the flu is unpleasant…but if you should get the flu and your body can fight it off without using drugs, you will gain natural immunity. And, if you take precautions by eating well and living a healthy lifestyle, you shouldn’t have to worry about the flu much at all. Here’s why:

No evidence the flu shot is effective

In 2004, The National Vaccine Information Center cited that the vaccines did not actually contain the flu strain that caused most flu outbreaks occurring that year. In that same year, the Lancet published a study showing no correlation between the flu shot and the decreased risk of contracting pneumonia.

A large, systematic review of 51 studies which used 260,000 children ranging in ages from 6 to 23 months found no evidence that the flu vaccine is any more effective than a placebo. Each year, current shots are only able to “protect” against specific strains of the virus, produced from last year’s virus in a laboratory. If you come into contact with a different strain, you are very much vulnerable to catching the flu.

It is common for people to come down with flu symptoms after getting a flu shot. This is because the flu shot contains some of those antigens to cause your body to produce an artificial reaction to the virus. The vaccine actually damages your immune system since it bypasses airborne, topical (through the skin), and the digestive system – the natural and permanent methods of gaining immunity – caused by toxic ingredients in the vaccine triggering a super-reaction in your immune system.

The research of Dr. Russell Blaylock, M.D. shows damage to the immune system and brain

Dr. Russell Blaylock, M.D. found in various neuroscience studies a strong link between vaccination and brain inflammation, which can go on for years or decades. Much of conventional medical science mistakenly believed for years that the brain is granted protection from immune activation by the special protective blood-brain barrier. Since then, more recent studies discovered that immune cells enter the brain directly, and also that the brain’s own special immune system becomes activated by vaccination. This special immune system functions due to the activity of a unique cell known as the microglia. These types of cells are found all throughout the brain and exist in dormancy until activated. In this case, the most critical stimuli to activate brain microglia (which triggers the body’s immune system) is through vaccination.

Once activated, there is no way to separate activation of the brain’s immune cells. The stronger the immune response, the more the brain’s stimulation continues. As long as the primary immune system is stimulated, so is the brains’s immune response. When this occurs, powerful, inflammatory excitotoxins and cytokines are mobilized which produce brain damage – similar to encephalitis.

This is the same type of reaction seen with various other vaccines which leads to seizures, autism spectrum disorders, and encephalitis in children. Recommendations from both the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Academy of Family Practice have included vaccinations for children including newborn infants and also yearly flu shots for both children and adults. The list for required vaccinations is growing year by year, and according to the CDC, currently is nearly at 60 different vaccines before the age of 6 years.

In mature and older adults, studies are linking vaccinations to diseases such as Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s, dementia, and ALS.

What ingredients are included in the flu vaccine?

Claims have been made by various sources that the new 2010-2011 flu vaccine is mercury-free.  Even if mercury were no longer included (which it still is in many vaccines) Dr. Lawrence Palevsky, M.D. discusses the other toxic ingredients found in vaccines:

  • Egg proteins: including avian contaminant viruses (these are certain to originate from hens in factory-farm environments)
  • Gelatin: known to cause allergic reactions and anaphylaxis are usually associated with sensitivity to egg or gelatin
  • Polysorbate 80 (Tween80™): can cause severe allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis
  • Formaldehyde: known carcinogen
  • Triton X100: a strong detergent
  • Sucrose: table sugar
  • Resin: known to cause allergic reactions
  • Gentamycin: an antibiotic
  • Thimerosal: mercury is still in multidose vials

In addition to these ingredients, flu vaccines also contain various antibiotics such as neomycin, polymyxin B and gentamicin. These are included to eliminate stray bacteria found in the mixture. Research shows that antibiotics destroy beneficial bacteria necessary to maintain health. Antibiotic drugs decrease the immune system’s functionality and cause the overgrowth of candida, which also suppresses the immune system.

There isn’t any way you will ever convince me that injecting those things into my body or my child’s body is safe, no matter how many medical studies you produce. It’s important to keep in mind that many of those studies showing favorable results are actually funded by the drug companies and special interests who are pro-vaccine.

When our bodies become too toxic, they attempt to ‘detox’ these substances out. The real cause of influenza is the body’s ability to remove toxins from the foods we eat and from the environment around us. When we eat processed foods and substances that are unrecognizable by our digestive system (difficult to digest), and if our digestive system is compromised and unable to digest healthy foods, the severity of flu symptoms will be stronger. Levels of toxins in the body versus the amount of available nutritional elements (such as Vitamin D or Vitamin C) are the primary components to determine severity or success of the cleansing process which we know as “flu symptoms”.

Natural ways to avoid the flu

Eat healthy, real foods with live nutrients, enzymes, vitamins and minerals goes a long way toward preventing or minimizing flu illnesses:

  • Cultured and fermented foods made at home such as cultured vegetables, kefir, yogurt, sour cream, kombucha, and water kefir.
  • Broths made from the bones of animals and birds on pasture, and fish
  • Raw milk from healthy cows on pasture
  • Healthy fats from animals and birds on pasture such as butter, lard, tallow, and also coconut and olive oil
  • Grass-fed meats and poultry, eggs from hens on pasture
  • Organ meats
  • Seafood
  • Organic fruits and vegetables
  • Reduce processed foods, sugar, and refined carbs
  • Eliminate artificial fats like butter spreads and vegetable oils like canola, cottonseed, and soybean oils
  • Reduce grains in the diet, and when they are eaten, preparing them properly through sprouting, soaking, and fermenting
  • Drink filtered water and nettle tea
  • Use natural remedies and treatments
  • Fermented cod liver oil

If it were as simple as avoid processed food and eat traditional foods, tell me why the 1918 flu was so deadly, especially to people in the prime of life? We get flu not from ‘toxins’ but from viruses. I totally understand if you do not believe the vaccine is effective or you do not want the additives. But it is misleading and irresponsible to throw around nonsense like that. Quit mixing good info – healthiness of traditional food – with anti-science crap.

KS – I’m sorry to hear you think what’s been written here is “anti-science crap” and “irresponsible”. What about the snow job the vaccine corporations do on the consumer public? If that isn’t “anti-science crap” or “irresponsible”, I don’t know what is. The purpose of this post is to give people the information they need to support their own health and healing through real foods and natural remedies, which are more effective than flu shots – as has been proven time and time again:

http://www.naturalmedicine.com/news/childrens-health/another-study-finds-kids-flu-shot-ineffective/

http://www.naturalnews.com/032558_flu_shots_wear_off.html

Even the mainstream media has been reporting that mostly people are better off without the shot:

http://digitaljournal.com/article/288946

If you look at the link I provided in that paragraph, you’ll see that flu rates were rapidly declining since 1900. Yes, there will always be flu pandemics, and most of the people who die of the flu have weakened immune systems. That’s what causes death from nearly all diseases. It’s very likely those people didn’t have access to good nutrition or sanitation (as not everyone in the world does) for one reason or another – perhaps because of poverty, or because even back then many processed food were already on the consumer market, or a variety of other reasons. Just look at the products Proctor & Gamble were putting on the market – they created a hydrogenated oil from cottonseed that was to replace lard – and they even gave away free cookbooks in 1912 using Crisco, their new “healthier” product. Those products have been shown to create inflammation in the body and promote disease. And people have been consuming them for nearly a century. As I stated in the post, toxins in the body cannot get a hold on your health unless there is an absence of enough nutrients. From the Standard American Diet of the majority of people, as well as a lot of stress from modern lifestyles and environmental pollutants, this is certainly a true statement.

KS – here are some other comments left by my readers on my FB page:

Todd Caldecott:

yes, viruses do promote illness, but seroconversion and immunity are host dependent. Why do some get very sick, others just the sniffles, and some not at all? This difference is well understood in traditional medicine as an expression of the vital force.

As for the 1918 pandemic, there is good evidence that the cause was aspirin, which at the time, was a rather new “wonder drug”:

Annette Kohn-Lau:

Folks who took homeopathy did the best….look it up. People in prime of life fared the worst because the virus that caused the Spanish Flu is a type that causes cytokine storm…the immune system over-reacts and so the lungs were filled with mucous from the overactive immune system. The immune system needed to be MODULATED, not stimulated. THIS IS WHAT Vitamin D does. I would suspect that those who had the most sunshine and VITAMIN K from healthy grass fed dairy also did well. IT IS THE TERRAIN, not the virus.

(here’s a reference about the successful use of homeopathy for the flu in the 1918 “pandemic”):

Terrific post! A few years ago, there was a shortage of flu shots, and far fewer people got vaccinated against the flu. The result? A substantial DECREASE in the number of Flu deaths.

There is absolutely no evidence that the deaths during the 1918 flu epidemic would have been prevented by flu shots. It must be understood that the epidemic started after World War 1, when hundreds of millions of people had been malnourished and short of food for years, which left them in a very weakened state, and very vulnerable to infection.

It should also be understood that people did not die from the flu virus. The historical record is clear that they died from secondary inflections, primarily pneumonia, that were caused by the flu. If antibiotics had been available at the time, most of the deaths would not have happened. The doctors of the rime did not know how to treat pneumonia, and considered it a death sentence.

The homeopathic hospital in New York knew how to treat the flu and pneumonia, and had a recovery rate of 99 percent.

The claim that there will be a horrible pandemic if people do not get flu shots is just not true. In fact, the only people I know who get the flu are those who get flu shots, and those they infect. In fact, I think there is a good chance the flu might die out if it were not spread by flu shots.

I have not gotten the flu in years, or a cold for that matter. Never got or plan to get a flu shot or other shot/vaccine! Not with all them toxins in em!

I don’t trust big pharma, conventional doctors or the government…all who are pushinig them. Good way to control people. They don’t want people well because if people stayed healthy and got well, maybe big pharma and doctors would be outta business! and all those government folk who are corrupt…congressmen taking contributions (bribes) from big pharma, revolving door with fda…women in government organization, Rick Perry….Pffffftttttt!

I been eating very healthy (and not the “politically correct” healthy that our …again…government is trying to push…again to make us sick).

Go ahead and let them pump toxins in you and feed you dead foods…let’s see how your health will do!

As for me and my household….we will serve the Lord…NOT government or big pharma!

You are loved!

I would be very interested in this , nobody needs to get sick all because of how they eat and no way will my kids get flu shots or any other shots , if we all at healthy and kept clean including our house always washing our hands and changing the filters in our house we should not get sick.
That’s no germ infested house .,no mold and mildue at all.!

“Anti-science crap”

Much of “modern” medicine is anti-science crap with their zealous attempts to cover up symptoms instead of learning the true cause of health problems. The deaths linked to prescription drugs, chemo, and over-sterilizing is far more damaging.

Good job on this post! I read a book years ago that had Lifespan in the title (sorry, can’t find it on amazon at the moment), which debunked the flu shot for the very reason that it’s a crap shoot as to which virus is chosen for the batch of shots for next year. It is so interesting that the studies on flu shots themselves cannot prove that they make a significant difference.

http://www.drbriffa.com/2010/11/25/flu-vaccination-is-largely-ineffective-despite-what-your-government-may-have-you-believe/

The 1918 flu is a fascinating subject. Of course it didn’t occur to me that after WWI, most people had been through rationing and were malnourished. My grandparents were in the Ukraine. They lived through the Russian Revolution and there was a famine due to potato blight. My grandmother’s family of 10 at 1 loaf of bread a week. My chiro had an article on his wall saying that the patients of chiropractors in 1918 fared better than most.

Thanks for pointing out how injecting vaccines changes the way the immune system is designed to work. I think we are all vaccinated whether we like it or not. When others get vaccinated, they shed the virus. However, it is not injected. Our bodies manage the contagion through proven avenues of defense. I guess my family has herd immunity.

Thanks to everyone for your comments! Stanley, Kelli, RadiantLux, Patricia, and Nancy. I’m glad you are all aware of the hoodwinking being done by the pharmaceutical industries and medical community about flu shots (and other vaccines) and that you are doing what you can to educate and inform others. Thanks for your support on this important issue and keep up the great work!

I found the comments here very interesting, especially yours Raine.

I’ll keep my comments brief and share my experience about avoiding the yearly “flu shot” campaign. It has been over 10 years since my husband received a flu shot. At that time, he was president of a company that gave them to everyone at work. He really didn’t want one, but felt he had to “set a good example”. You guessed it….that year he got the flu! He has since retired and hasn’t gotten a flu shot since.

I on the otherhand, cannot remember the last time I got a flu shot – perhaps 20-25 years ago. Not only have I not had a case of the flu, but I’ve not even had a common cold is almost 20 years.

This is the first article I’ve actually bothered to read about flu vaccinations. I’m not currently for or against them and have gotten the vaccine some years but not others, and never had any flue symptoms either way.

I think it’s unfortunate that you seem to feel it’s OK to rely on studies supporting your position while at the same time stating you will never believe studies that contradict your opinion. That makes me deeply suspicious of your entire article. (You should look into the topic of confirmation bias.) Because of that, I can’t take your statements at face value. However, I will look into the studies you linked–especially the review of 51 studies that found no evidence the flue vaccine was more effective than placebo.

The frustrating thing about issues like this is that it takes so much time to dig through all the junk, and even when you find something that appears to be a good, solid piece of scientific info, it’s sometimes disproved the next year by some other study. And either one of those may turn out to be the product of some drug company or crooked doctor, like that English MD who falsified all that research on how vaccines supposedly contributed to autism (no link handy, but I can look it up if you’re interested).

Ben – I’m sorry to hear you are suspicious of my article. Don’t you find it suspicious that all studies which show the vaccine is effective (that I’ve ever found, anyway) have questionable funding sources? In my book, this is always a way to know the studies are biased toward companies making the vaccines – the pharmaceutical industry, which is as you know, a multi-billion dollar industry. I am personally not an individual that requires every decision I make or belief I hold to be validated by the scientific community. There are plenty of other things the scientific community has changed their views on over the years, such as the fact that saturated fat is harmful for us to consume, or that eggs are just as bad a smoking cigarettes. It’s claims like these that make me very wary indeed of. Because there are many people who require a scientific validation to believe something or not, I included those studies here for reference. You certainly don’t have to believe those studies, but it seems much further of a stretch to buy into studies that have such an industry bias as those which prove the vaccine to be safe.

Something else the scientific community is very inconsistent about is the fact that no amount of mercury (or aluminum for that matter, also found in vaccines) is considered acceptable in the human body, and yet they are fond of saying that these metals are only present in minute amounts. Mercury is cumulative, and so I’m just never going to agree that any amount of mercury from any shot is going to be safe.

My observation is that an overwhelming amount of people who get the flu shot do become sick with the flu or something else, and those I know who don’t get the flu shot are usually free of the virus.

Dr. Wakefield was not crooked, he had a snowjob done on his life and career. He never stated in his research that vaccines caused autism (those are the words of “journalist” Brian Deer which were then repeated all over the media and health communities). His case study showed that there was a link between the MMR vaccine and bowel disease. Autism has its roots in bowel disease, however. All disease begins in the gut and immune system seat which is located there. As far as his research, did you know that many other studies were done by other researchers/doctors that found the same link? Here’s the post I wrote about this topic with a full list of studies done (and that’s only a partial list):

https://agriculturesociety.com/politics-and-food/dr-wakefield-and-the-mmr-vaccine-scandal/

Fraudulent findings cannot be replicated by other studies and researchers, by the way.

It’s also true that one of Dr. Wakefield’s co-researchers, John Walker-Smith was cleared of all charges of wrongdoing by the courts, which should really tell you something about this situation:

http://anh-europe.org/news/andrew-wakefield-co-accused-wins-court-battle-against-uk-general-medical-council

Dr. Wakefield’s case is in progress against Brian Deer and the BMJ.

Did you know that the BMJ (British Medical Journal, the publication which printed Brian Deer’s article) only gave Mr. Deer’s commentary, but didn’t include children’s medical notes which were used in the study (and BMJ was not allowed access to?

Raine, thanks for the reply. I would find it suspicious if all studies showing that vaccines are effective were funded by big pharma. I saw a study recently showing that scientific studies funded by corporations have a statistically higher chance of getting positive results. Unfortunately I didn’t bookmark it and am now cursing myself because I can’t find it again. But in any case I’m not necessarily ready to claim that all vaccine-supporting studies were necessarily funded by suspicious sources until I see some evidence of it. I’m sure you’ve found many that have suspicious funding sources, but it would take a pretty exhaustive investigation to really convince me one way or the other.

I’ve seen the scientific community make many mistakes and reverse their opinion on many things. And yes, I agree that we should be wary. I exercise just as much skepticism towards scientific findings as I do towards anything else. But the ability of the scientific community to change its mind, so to speak, is one of the things that keeps it working. False findings will eventually be discovered. Flawed reasoning will eventually be uncovered. On the other hand, dogmatism and pseudoscience tend to cling to beliefs even when the evidence is overwhelmingly against them, and that’s an attitude I find disturbing.

So that’s where I was coming from in finding your article “suspicious.” It looked to me like you had that attitude. Your comments about mercury helped explain that somewhat. I’ve never looking into the mercury issue deeply enough to have a comment on that.

As for Dr. Wakefield, I should have known better than to bring that up. That’s a big can of worms. 🙂 However, I do appreciate your comments on the issue.

Ah, I just found the link to that study about the bias of corporation-funded studies — in your article! I thought it had been in the comments. Mystery solved!
